ChessLogic · Calculation Walk
open the walk

Your games already know where you stopped calculating.

Paste a game. Other tools show you the move you missed and explain why it wins. This one shows you the thinking that finds it: the same questions, asked in the same order, in every position, so you can run it yourself at the board with no engine there. No account needed.

No game handy? and watch the method reason its way to the move.
A forty-move game is eighty positions. Choosing the two worth studying is most of the work, and it is the part this does for you.
A position makes the list when:
  • the win was there and you played something else
  • your move handed one to your opponent
  • a threat was already standing against you and your move did not answer it
And only while the result was still open. A tactic missed in a game you had already lost is real chess, but it is not where the game turned, so it stays off the list. Every position that makes it comes with the full walk: the questions, in order, that find the move.
